Tell us 10 things about yourself:
1) I love to eat. I can eat anything that is halal. Including otak lembu @ exotic food.

2) I would sleep when I feel moody. The next thing I know when I wake up, I'll forget what's bothering me.

3) I love swimming. I learnt swimming from my late father who gave me 2 old coconuts when I was in parit. He later gave me only one, and then none at all. One of the best memories I've ever had in my life.

4) I fell in love with sewing. I didn't bother to learn about it at the very beginning. However, there's one time before Hari Raya, I didn't have much things to do. Mom asked me to sew a baju kurung. I did it and felt very good. On that particular Hari Raya I sewed 6 baju kurung for other people.

5) I'm addicted in blogging. Proof? For today up to now, there're 3 entries for this blog only. :P.

6) I like to learn new things especially about the living skills.

7) My husband and I love to explore new area. Yesterday, coincidently, we knew that Nilai 3 is attached to Bukit Mahkota. Very near indeed. The route we went is not the same route we returned.

8) Must have item in my husband's car is a map! Don't have to buy the GPS whatsoever... I'll bring compass everywhere I go too.

9) I've the uneasiness feelings in attending into crowd such as gathering with new people. Frankly, I'm a shy person... cehhh! :P

10) Husband and children are my best friends. I love playing PC games with my husband. Not only PC, in shopping mall included. I like the choice of my husband's games (that combat, poker, soldier, tembak² things la. So manly huh!) but he doesn't like my games such as The Sims. Tak reti berimaginasi katanya.

Newly discovered? Ermmmm... I dun think many. Acilah kan kalo masukkan yang dah lama kenal dengan saya:

1. MelissAziezul - she is one of the silent readers who visits Syafiah's blog on regular basis. Only lately she note down something in the shoutbox.

2. Asz - she has 2 wonderful boys - Adam and Ammar. One of them - Ammar is Syafiah's friend.

3. MAMA | SARAH | SYIMIR - I was only realized that she's someone I knew recently. We have communicated in SU.net before. However her nickname is different. That's why I didn't recognize her.

4. Dianne - she lives in Aussie and she has 2 wonderful kids. One of them is BC. BC is a gorgeous boy who has Athetoid cerebral palsy.

5. Sarah - Sarah has 2 kids too. One of them is Violet who is a hydrocephalic with microphthalmia. However, she recently discovered that she has a brain tumor. She has undergone awake surgery on June 1, 2009. Sarah lives in Aussie too.

6. Dayah - northern blogger from Penang. She's indeed someone I knew recently. She has a child named Shukrina Imtiyaz age 1 year + 5 months.

7. Lightnur - she lives in Aussie. Mom to 5 children, expecting another one which is due in October including Muja who is also a patient of cerebral palsy. She has a developmental disorder - Spastic Quadriparesis, vision and hearing impairment, mild seizures and nasogastric feeding.

8. Mirah - she works in UPM and a mother to 2 wonderful girls - Aishah and Khadijah. One of them is born premature.

9. Jiey Mien - a mother to a tough fighter - Ian.

10. Hippo - she is a mother with 2 hydrocephalus daughters - Kaydine (4 yo) and Khalean (2 yo). She's a Sabahan. :D

11. Noina - Yasmin Nabila's mother. Nabila is a patient of quadriplegia cerebral palsy and global developmental delay with seizures.

12. Nanie - a mother to Anis, Mira and Iman. Iman was detected with microchephaly few months after Iman was born.

13. KNV - she has 2 kids if I'm not mistaken. One is Aimi and another one is Aisyah.

14. Azie - she was one of my friends in IPT. We're in the same course. My intake was in July, hers was in November. Even though we're in different classes yet we still could click together. She's now living in Putrajaya with her husband and her daughter - Hasya.

15. Amalina - she's now in Japan. Her daughter - Nurul Afiqah is a patient of cerebral palsy with quadriplegic spasticity and global developmental delay.

Gantikan 'Orang Kurang Upaya' Dengan 'Orang Kelainan Upaya'

KEMAMAN, 13 Jun (Bernama) -- Menteri Belia dan Sukan Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek mencadangkan agar penggunaan istilah 'orang kelainan upaya' (OKU) diperluaskan bagi menggantikan 'orang kurang upaya'.

Menurut beliau istilah orang kelainan upaya lebih menggambarkan keistimewaan dan kelebihan golongan itu berbanding istilah lama yang memberi maksud lebih negatif dan seolah-olah merendahkan keupayaan golongan itu.

"Kita mungkin terlalu terikut dengan perkataan bahasa Inggeris 'disable' yang menggambarkan ketidakupayaan serta kelemahan golongan ini sedangkan sebenarnya mereka mempunyai kelainan dan kelebihan luar biasa yang kadang kala tidak terdapat pada orang normal.

"Contohnya, atlet paralimpik yang mempunyai semangat dan iltizam yang tinggi, serta kebolehan yang kadang kala manusia sempurna sendiri tidak mempunyai keupayaan itu," katanya kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan majlis penutup program 'Higher Institution National Expedition and Camping (HINEX) 2009' di sini hari ini.

Katanya, golongan OKU juga tidak ketinggalan menyumbang jasa dalam pembangunan negara termasuk menjadi pembuat kraftangan, doktor, guru, pensyarah, serta ahli perniagaan.

Majlis itu turut dihadiri oleh Ahli Exco Majlis Pengakap Malaysia Datuk Dr Mohamad Shahrum Osman yang juga Pengerusi Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) dan Rektor Kolej Universiti TATI, Dr Mohd Rozilan Mamat.

Sejak saya mendapat seorang cahaya mata terpilih, persepsi saya terhadap kehidupan ini berubah. Saya melihat mereka sebagai golongan yang hebat kerana kita tidak melalui apa yang mereka lalui. Kita tidak berada di atas meja bedah. Kita tidak rasa bagaimana kepala dijahit dan di'kopek'.

Apa ada pada istilah? Saya secara peribadi tak suka betul label dan perkataan OKU ni seperti mana saya tidak menggemari perkataan disable @ retard. Terfikirkah kita perbualan seperti ini mungkin wujud, "Ah.. dia tu OKU. Susah nak bergerak. Buat apa nak ambil dia bekerja?". Dengan wujudnya istilah ini, kita telah dengan tidak sengaja melabelkan/mengkategorikan golongan tersebut. Kelainan upaya dengan kurang upaya sama je. Tetap hasilkan label "OKU" jugak.

Inilah mentaliti masyarakat. Masyarakat perlu dididik untuk menghormati dan lebih sensitif terhadap golongan yang hebat ini. Ini tidak.. kadangkala segelintir yang educated pun pandang lain macam je bila orang² hebat ni lalu berhampiran mereka. Ada yang memandang sekali, banyak yang memandang banyak kali. Kepala anak saya mungkin saja nampak "kemek", dia mungkin saja tidak boleh duduk pada usia setahun lebih.. so what? Itu baru pandangan dan lirikan mata, belum lagi yang berkata-kata.

Di Indonesia misalnya, di penghujung bulan Mei 2009 golongan terpilih ini dikehendaki untuk memakai sign "for their safety". Perbincangan tersebut telah dibentangkan di dalam Parlimen Indonesia. Dan hasilnya, orang² terpilih ini telah mengadakan demonstrasi jalanan.

Saya bersetuju dengannya. Sepatutnya masyarakat mengambil tindakan proaktif untuk menjaga satu sama lain ketika di jalanraya apatah lagi menjaga golongan yang terpilih ini.

p/s : Sorry la... saya tetap beranggapan kepala "kemek" dan perangai Syafiah tu adalah satu yang normal. Ya.. normal untuk saya yang melaluinya.
